May We Feed The King – Rebecca Perry

Description

A curator is hired to furnish the rooms of a grand mansion house for public display — a building that was once the palace of a reluctant king. As the curator works methodically through its rooms, the novel slips back seven centuries to the same building, following the king, his Chief Adviser and his court through their daily rituals and secret intrigues.

Told in short, titled sections and without conventional dialogue, Rebecca Perry’s quietly mesmerising novel moves between past and present as a hidden mystery — and the hint of a love story — slowly comes to light.
