Description

Unmute is a biannual print magazine that aims at curating content around contemporary architectural discourse of its time. Each publication is curated around a theme, discussed in a public forum as a part of FNC (Friday Night Conversations). Published by Compartment S4, Unmute invites creators from various backgrounds to submit articles, essays, photo stories, illustrations etc. expressing ideas, observations or thought constructs in relation to a pre-decided theme. Our curation for these Issues aims to cater to a wide range of audiences, not only architects but also its allied fields like literature, anthropology, visual media, public policy, finance and the like.
Our first two issues focused on Narratives and Ideas of Housing in India. We are now out of print for the first two issues. The 3rd Issue titled, Songs of Participation looks at community driven design processes for architecture and urban design projects – with pieces authored by Anand Sonecha (SEAlab), Isaac Mathews, Shardul Patil (Design Jatra) and more.
Compartment S4 an architecture design practice, based out of Ahmedabad, involved in architectural design, research, as well as curation of discussions and publications around contemporary architectural discourse and its allied fields.
