About Issue 01

The 160-page debut issue of TURMERIC traverses with stories unfolding across Ahmedabad, Baroda, Chandigarh, Goa, and Toronto. Through seven conversations, one essay, one poem, and a set of illustrations, it captures how contemporary Indian creatives are making, building, and dreaming within their own ecosystems.

• Anikesa Dhing, an artist based in Baroda, on nostalgia, abstraction, and materiality in art.

• Prachi Dhase, an illustrator based in Toronto, on diasporic identity and storytelling through mixed media.

• Mackinlay Barreto, founder of The Local Beat, on mindful tourism, community, and creative entrepreneurship in Goa.
