Description

Famine had destroyed many parts of Central India. Extreme shortage of grains had killed thousands in Gwalior. It was impossible to send help across from Bhopal. Meanwhile, a machine had been invented in Britain, a machine that could run faster than the fastest horse. The British colonial powers had also started spreading the railway lines across their colonies in the world. When Sir Henry Daly presented his proposal to Shah Jahan Begum, she also found the opportunity to fulfil her mother, Sikandar Begum’s and grandmother Qudsiya Begum’s desire to bring the railways to Bhopal. This book takes us on the journey of railways in Bhopal from the 19th century to current times.
