Plants are arranged in this volume in Bengali alphabetical order with English names in parenthesis. A short description of each plant and its floral characters, its use in public welfare, literary and mythological background, if any, and its values in public life have been incorporated in the text in simple style instead of going into serious, weighty scientific names and detailed background. To meet botanical and horticultural curiosities about such families, flowering time and flower color are given in a a tabular form.
