Description

Rodion Raskolnikov, a destitute ex-student in stifling St. Petersburg, is convinced his superior intellect justifies extraordinary acts. He murders a miserly pawnbroker and her sister, seeking to test his theory that genius transcends morality. As time passes, he is plagued by guilt, paranoia and hallucinatory dread, and has to navigate a labyrinth of poverty, suspicion and moral chaos. Encounters with a shrewd detective, a devout family and a prostitute with unshakeable faith force him to confront the abyss within.
