Boom Boom – Prema Revathi

Description

Sura is a boy with an unusual name — his mother named him after a famous film star’s big flop. He spends his days selling stickers near Velankanni Church, climbing palm trees and playing under the big tamarind tree. Then his Thatha comes to visit: a nomadic fortune teller who travels from town to town with a decorated bull and a sacred drum. And Sura begins to see that his grandfather’s way of life is fading.

Based on real experiences shared by children from nomadic communities in Tamil Nadu, this moving picture book by activist, educator and filmmaker Prema Revathi features striking block-printed illustrations by Anthoni Guruz. Shortlisted for the Mehlli Gobhai Children’s Book Illustrator Award and selected for the Parag Honour List.
