‘Kersi’s transcendentally insane pen…interweaves a spectrum of narratives into epic proportions. A tribute to a city he obviously loves and loathes in equal measure.’—Naseeruddin Shah
It’s the ’90s, and an old city has just got a new name. The economy is booming, and new shiny towers are shooting skywards.
Bombay / Mumbai: Two brothers, Cyrus Kerman and Rumi Dubash, bound by blood spilled, not shared, will carry their deep-rooted grudges from the old city to the new, until only one of them—or neither—will be left standing.
A stowaway jumps ship and enters the city with new hopes and impossible dreams, but cruel fate will grind him down and bring him face-to-face with the very demons he escaped from.
A Bollywood ‘item girl’, with a righteous agenda and an axe to grind, flaunts her innocent yet deadly aura that will make men kill—and ultimately die for her.
Fast, filthy, funny and ferociously alive, Bombay Tabloid is a sprawling literary novel of obsessive love, dysfunctional families and revenge, blood-soaked rioters and brainwashed terrorists, all of whom will tumble and tangle in a classic clash of good versus evil in this City of Two Names, as that tenuous line between the bright lights of respectability and the dark menace of the underworld gets blurred.
