Annihilation of Caste – Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar (Hardcover)

Description

In 1936, Dr B.R. Ambedkar was invited to give the presidential address at a conference of Hindu reformers in Lahore. When the organisers read his speech in advance, they withdrew the invitation. Ambedkar published it himself — and Annihilation of Caste became one of the most important texts of modern India.

Fierce, clear and uncompromising, it argues that caste cannot be reformed but must be destroyed, and challenges the religious ideas that uphold it. Still urgent today, it is essential reading for anyone who wants to understand caste and social justice in India. A hardcover edition.
