Description

In this unique literary experiment, acclaimed author Farrukh Dhondy presents a collection of short stories written in classical sonnet sequences, culled from the memories of his childhood, growing up in India and memories from the collective consciousness of his family.

At once humorous and heartfelt, and boasting a cast of colourful characters, including the author’s younger self, these short stories/sonnet sequences offer a very personal portrait of India in the throes of change, from colonial rules to the Independence.

Farrukh Dhondy is a British-Indian writer. Born in 1944 in Pune, India. He went to school and college in India and then obtained degrees from Cambridge and Leicester universities. His work includes fiction, nonfiction, journalism, stage drama, TV and films. His latest books are a life-memoir entitled Fragments Against My Ruin, Hawk and Hyena, an account of his dealings with the serial killer Charles Sobhraj, a translation of the Persian poetry of Hafiz and a book of connected stories called Deccan Queen – Take Two.
